Blog post #3

Today, on our first project day, we discussed and researched just how we should go about making these videos. Do we plan first ? Do we just turn on the camera and see what happens? How should we do this? So after talking a whole lot, we decided that planning each video individually will be best. First, we’re going to start with looking up/creating a recipe for whatever we’re going to make. Then, we will buy ingredients or if we have them we’ll use those because I’m broke. Anyways, next, we’re going to research the actual economic aspects of our project. We’re going to jot down some info about the ingredients themselves and/or the dishes or who knows, maybe something else. Next, we are going to organize an outline of talking points to avoid going off track in each video. I know that we will probably get off topic anyway, but at least an attempt at a structure will have been made. So that’s what we did today! Will keep you guys posted.

Today, we started brainstorming ideas for recipes to include in our three videos. We are trying to find three individual dishes that include multiple cultures per dish. (if that makes sense?) I have realised that I’m only actually familiar with Mexican American food because it’s what I grew up with, but im not familiar really with other cultures. I have very basic knowlege and would like to learn more from others. If any of you have ideas that would perhaps reflect your culture or ones you are familiar with, I would love to hear them and try to incorporate them into our project.

It’s the night before our second semester 20% project pitch and I am very excited to share what we have so far. We have shifted our plan quite a bit from our initial idea, but after talking with Mr. Taggart, I think this idea is much easier to manage and something that is much more interesting to the both of us. Our initial idea was to go through what one might have to if they were to start a business from scratch. Though a cool idea, this is also super hard to manage. So, I’m happy to share what we’ve come up with. YAY!
